    Eastern Industrial Supplies relies on data across its business

    Eastern Industrial Supplies opened its doors in 1980 in Greenville, South Carolina and has grown to have branches in six different states across America. Eastern specializes in the quality distribution of pipe, valves, fittings and commercial plumbing products. Two years ago, it set up an e-commerce division which has helped maintain healthy growth. Data drives the decision-making, as everyone relies on Phocas data analytics to validate responses and add value to their work.

    Dennis Karpinski - Director of e-Commerce and Business Analysis at Eastern. He was the Corporate Controller for 17 years before he stepped out of that role to lead the creation of Eastern’s e-commerce division. 

    He has always managed the data and works to ensure everyone in the company has access to timely information through the use of Phocas data analytics.


    The company uses Phocas every day  in just about every facet of the company. The sales associates are looking at what happened  yesterday and where they are at 'month to date' and 'year to date'. 

    "People check Phocas for what bids have  converted from a bid and have shipped. Purchasing uses it and so does finance,"says Karpinksi.
    Eastern also use the Phocas rebates solution. "Prior to adding this software, we tracked rebates in spreadsheets. Rebates weren't done very well and so now we have a  dedicated tool, rebates are easier to manage."

    Eastern analyses data primarily from its ERP such as sales, stock, purchasing and finance information and then syncs ad hoc data sets when necessary.

    "Using Phocas makes me feel much more useful to Eastern as an employee. People across the company also come to me with questions when they need help with answers. And our data in Phocas absolutely allows me to help them,"explains Karpinski.
