BSS Group automates financial reports and branch managers can self-serve queries
Month-end at BSS Group, (building supplies and solutions) used to mean four to five days of manually pulling financial data from legacy systems and a data lake to produce management accounts and board reports. Since implementing Phocas alongside their Klipboard ERP, that process is largely automated. The time saved has shifted the team's focus to doing higher-value work such as cost reduction analysis.
The biggest win, according to Dan Mellor, Systems Accountant has been putting the data directly in the hands of branch managers and cost centre owners. Previously, a branch manager querying a figure would wait for finance or an operations business partner to investigate on their behalf. Now they drill into the transactions themselves and filter to exactly what they need, cross-referencing against budget without deferring to the finance team.
